Today I read a german news about an upcoming $100 Laptop developed by the MIT which should be introduced in Brasil in 2006. China and other countries, also in Africa, the middle-east and south-east Asia, should follow later.
Currently a computer is more expensive in Brasil than in the U.S.A. or Europe while the people in Brasil earn a fraction.


Thats very cool news.
If they get paid a fraction, they should come to the United States… of wait… they are. In very large numbers.
And the United States and European industry is already there …

Ericd: yes, from what I heard, this project is part of the ‘popular pc’ project, so it’ll only run free software. So it’ll come bundled with all the stuff people would usually need – ie, openoffice, firefox, blender, etc.
